Getting Involved

Volunteering your time gives you the opportunity to get involved in your community, participate in events/activities, meet new people and develop new employability skills and experiences. There are many opportunities to get involved as a volunteer here at Sheridan!

Note: not all volunteer opportunities are in the Co-Curricular Record’s Opportunities Directory.

Student Leadership and Engagement

Sheridan's Peer Mentors are available to meet with you one-on-one and help you find the right opportunity for you to get involved in. To make an appointment to meet with a Peer Mentor at your campus please send an email to

Sheridan Student Union Inc.

Sheridan Student Union also provides students with opportunities to get involved on campus! Be sure to check in with Sheridan Student Union Volunteer Board where volunteers play a vital role in the organization and delivery of events and services provided by the SSUI.

A final word about the importance of volunteering and job search…

A recent employer survey stated that 41% of employers said they would consider volunteer work as important as paid work.  20% of employers said they have made a hiring decision based on volunteer work.

It is important to include volunteer experience on your resume because it demonstrates initiative and can lead to securing paid work in your field of interest.

If you need assistance with writing your resume, please contact Sheridan’s Career Centre to schedule an appointment with an Employment Consultant.
